Members of the Philippine National Police harassed a candidate and campaigners conducting an election activity on Saturday, April 30, in a report to Kontra Daya.
According to the report, campaigners for Anakpawis partylist, with their second nominee Francisco “Doy” Mariazeta, were harassed by the police as they were conducting a voter’s education activity in Baseco, Manila.
Police cited the need to enforce health protocols as the reason for interfering with the said activity. Attendees, campaigners, and local organization leaders were photographed by the police, violating their right to privacy. Mariazeta and fellow campaigners were eventually able to negotiate with the police to continue their activity.
